The Auburn Tigers are the pride of Auburn, Alabama, but the city's football tradition begins long before players reach the college level. Auburn High School has built a reputation as one of the state's premier programs, consistently producing talented athletes and competing at a high level.
Head coach Keith Etheredge enters his sixth season leading the Tigers with an impressive 51-12 record at Auburn. Last season, Auburn finished as the No. 2 seed in its region after a narrow 31-28 loss to rival Opelika in the regular-season finale.
With the new Class 6A reclassification, Auburn High is once again expected to be among the region's top contenders. However, the Tigers face one of the state's most demanding schedules, with matchups against Opelika, Hewitt-Trussville, Carver, Enterprise, Dothan, and Central highlighting a challenging slate.
Despite the difficult road ahead, Etheredge believes facing elite competition every week will prepare his team for postseason success.
"We want competition every single week, and with our region being so tough, and when you get to the playoffs, there aren't any easy games, so we want to kind of put ourselves in that fire," Etheredge said.
The Tigers will open the 2026 season at home against Hewitt-Trussville, kicking off what promises to be another challenging campaign.
